We start off the day with a lecture on how a Service Desk can benefit us and how does it work. I feel that this lecture has benefited me as I have learnt about the basic of implementing a Service Desk. Furthermore, from this lecture, I know the methods and ways of how to implement the Service Desk technology. This method can also be applied when we do our larger-scale projects. Hence, I find it very beneficial to me.
I attempted the free certification on SOA (Service Orientated Architecture) certification. From this test, I realised that the certification test for IBM is not very easy, it takes effort and time to study for and prepare for the test. It is a good experience for me to experience the test taking for an IBM certification, as it is a rare opportunity to actually go for and take the test in IBM context. I had fun taking the IBM certification even though I did not have good results from the test.
Thinking I could take up the challenge, I went to attend an advanced lecture by WebSphere. Even though it was an advanced lecture, I actually enjoyed this lecture as the speaker and his team did a very good job. This lecture was not a teaching session but rather a question and answer session. Although I do not really understand the product that they are discussing, but I had really learnt a lot from this session. The professionals and the speaker shared their experience with one another. I really enjoyed the session and would like to attend future such sessions. I feel that the speakers are also very approachable, for example, Mr Ernese Norelus even stayed back for a while to explain to us some of the basic context of the WebSphere software.
Overall, I feel that today was a great day. I have learnt a lot and I hope to learn more tomorrow.

Day 2!
Today is a day that made me realises that I have to know more before I try anything.
It felt like I was back to my secondary school days when I went to sat for the paper and I was completely blank.
The feeling of helplessness always never failed to push me harder.
We attended an advance WAS 7 Birds of Feather with Architects in the afternoon after our certificate trial.
The person who was conducting the session was Ernese Norelus. He is a very experienced speaker and I really enjoyed the sharing session when the experts shared their experience or voice out their question.
Though I had almost no knowledge of what WAS7 was. The sharing session really inspired me to check and self study about what it is.
After the session, Professor Ernese Norelus answered our quesitons on ESB.
He taught us how people always mistook what they think is a solution is the solution without understanding what the real problem and what people need.
He even offered to gave a question and answer session just for us!
Overall, I really feel that I learnt a lot of things today, things that I had forgotten and things that I never knew.

Reflections/2nd Conference Day
Today's program was a little different as compared to yesterday for us. First we attended a lecture on another Tivoli product. After that we studied and prepared for a certification test. Then we had lunch before going for our test.
We were just going for the test for the experience as we were quite new to the products and so we were basically just "trying our luck". This was how I felt about taking the test. Mostly, the questions on the concept of the product i could answer but when it came to other types of questions, I was totally lost.
After the test, we wanted to try another kind of lecture. Yesterday, all the lectures we took were all for "beginners". However, we tried attending a lecture for "advanced" people. It was kind of a scary gamble as I thought we were going to be totally clueless about it. Apparently we were.
However, the whole session was actually a Q&A session where the advanced people using the products can ask any questions to the experts about the product. Although, we did not use the product but we tried our best to visualise what kind of problems they were facing. So, it wasn't really a waste of time. It was quite interesting as we saw how the experts tackle the problems the users faced and how they answered their questions.
On the whole, I thought that going for the advanced lectures were not as bad as we were thought as after that, we had a few questions to ask them too as the product was related to the test we did earlier on and they did manage to answer them.

Fortunate choice
Today, we had a rare Q&A session. We were advised to stick with the agenda given to us, which consisted of only beginner. We got too bored with the beginner lectures as the stuff that was taught consisted of a lot of technical topics. The Q&A was labelled under the advanced category. We decided to give it a try than to just stick with the agenda. It was a BIG SURPRISE!!! When we thought it is a lecture, it turned out to be a Q&A session about IBM’s new product. It was the most interesting lesson for the past days. The conversation between the consumers and the consultant was very exciting and kept me engaged for the whole duration. The session was beneficial and I learnt quite a few new things. I feel that it was a fortune that we went for the “Advanced” session

Dear Blog
Today starts with better food than yesterday. Today is one of the most enriching time for me. Exposure to WAS and Network Configuration helped nurture in me some interest and given me valuable knowledge.
Test on SOA (Service-oriented application) was bad. Certification really motivate us to study. Though I did my last minute revision, my results were still bad. I didn’t perform checking for my paper. I was urgent for natural’s call. This ruins my whole paper and through this I reflect deeply; no more drinks, and a need to wear a jacket for warmth.
Overall day has been pretty fruitful. Technical terms was absorbed. An example was about the point to point connection instead using a common point, ESB. They were patient and was keen to have a free session for us. I hope they do it out of their love for our interests. Days ended with us frantically using this short time to write our reflection. Tired and beat from the lectures and a debate class, we need to get ourselves once again charged up and faced tomorrow with a cheerful and energetic mindset.

IBM conf
IBM conference was the first technology-driven conferences I attended and hence it set as a benchmark. Over the past few hours, I have learnt about command prompt commands as well as IBM products. I totally agreed with what they mentioned that the world is connected but hardly integrated. Technology is driven by businesses and competition keeps innovation going. Technology acts as a problem solver as shown by case studies of 6 different companies, including the Indonesian Bank. Overall, we mostly learned about their products, with little reference to the problems the people encountered. However I did learned some about the data deduplication; the server and the clients. Although to us. the year 1, is pretty challenging, we managed to get the idea of the concept. This day ended with a presentation that tells us technology helps and improves different aspects of our life including KPI. As what Mr teo mentioned, learn with an open heart. That helps a lot. Let’s not miss out food. The meals was tnot o my liking. Fine, that’s was just my preferences. After the adaptation we have from Day1, Day2 will even be a better day. Can’t wait to get home.

xinyi day 1
I enjoyed the free labs session which was about the websphere! Especially the lecture who taught us about how the concept of box and outline method works. It is better to take a look at the lesson that we learnt from him in the following video!
By the way I would like to share about what is Master Data Management! What is Master Data?
It is the key fact describing your core business entities, customers, partners, employees, products, list of accounts and location.
What is not a Master Data? All the data within enterprise such as transaction data and billing data are not master data.
Name and address are as they do not change regularly! I find it so astonishing since during Principle of Accounts (POA) in my secondary school and I enjoyed POA!
